Mr Salty.....help!

I am going to change my cc bed to a dsb. I was told to check out oolitic sand, which is very fine. I found some and it's very inexpensive compared to other types. Is this a good sand to use for the majority of my sand bed? They also have a sea floor special sand that's a little bigger I thought might be good to mix.
I have a 125 gal tank and thought about 150#'s of oolitic, 40#'s of seafloor special and 40#'s of Fla live sand to seed it all with. What do you think?

Sounds like that would be a good mix.Just remember that when removing the CC,you are also removing alot of your bacteria. So you either need to add 25% live sand to the mix,,,Or put the CC into some cut off feet from pantyhose and place them in the tank for a few weeks.Either of these methods will help you to avoid a recycle...

I will be adding approx 25% live sand (actually natures ocean argonite) so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Your idea about cc in pantyhose is classic...I love it. I have plenty of "those" laying around that I can hang some cc in the tank anyway for a couple of weeks. Thanks for everything. This is one change I'm making in the tank that I feel comfortable with since I started it.
