Congrats on the SHARK Steve. I finally got my complete LR set-up and my new 640watt system is in place. I will post new pics this weekend. I have one question for you. My neighbor has a 55 gallon reef tank with 1 fish(a clown), He just added a tang and it has Ick? (little white dots). I told him not to get it and that tangs are prone to this but he just HAD to get it. He wants me to treat it and then keep it, but he wants to know since his tank has been infected will the Ick actually cycle out of the tank after 21 days or will it always be there???
Thanks, Don

If there are no fish in the tank, the ick will cycle out in approximately 21 days [but make it a month for safe measure].
With fish in the tank, ick might die-off because the fishes' immune system does not allow it to take hold and complete its life-cycle; more likely, you will run the risk of letting ick really get a "strangle" on your tank.
If possible, better to remove fish and let tank cycle. Cure fish with ick in separate hospital tank, then reintroduce fish that have been clear of ick for 1 mo. back into the main tank.

Thanks for the info Sammy and Beth. I will treat the Tang and tell my neighbor not to introduce anymore fish for at least a month. I'll try that Ick killer on the tang and let you know.
Thanks again, Don
I don't have many fish in my 150 so hopefully it won't rear its ugly head. Hey guess what. I'm now a JUMBO. I'm honored !!!I don't deserve it but I am honored.

Congrats Mr. Salty!!!
That's so cool you're a shark. I don't think anyone would miss me but I you did, I have not been on the BB cuz school has started and I hardly ever have any time. My fish are all doing great and Claudia has grown quite a bit, Tango's fin is healed, but I think I'll hafta wait at least until next summer to go thru with my upgrading plans cuz as of now I have no time nor finances, nor space. I'll be on to put in my 2 cents every once in a while, but for now I've got so much more to do than sit at my computer. Happy fishkeeping everyone!
