I cant see why not , i have a 45 gal that I plan to connect to my 75gal reef since my 45gal stands taller than my 75gal so this makes it a lot easier,
Here's what i plan on doing first I'm going to drill two 1inch holes for overflow (45gal tank) 45gal tank flows into the 75gal ,the 75gal then flows to my sump and water them pumps back to the 45gal.
you can do the same by having your 30 gal drain to your 55gal ,55 to sump then pumped back to the 30 but i do recommend having both the 30 and 50gal drilled (for overflows)
still recommend quarantine before adding anything new since both tank will be connected.
