Multiple Angels?????

On this website it says with every angel for sale that you can not house 2 angels in the same tank. They won't even let you order 2 angels without confirming that they won't be in the same tank. Is this true? I've seen many many many tanks with multiple large and dwarf angels housed together. I have a 210 gallon with a little baby Queen Angel and I'd love to buy a nice French or maybe a Cortez... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, MATT

IMO, the emphasis placed on prospective buyers of angels is a bit over the top. As you said, keeping more than one large angel is workable. Much depends on tank size, order of introduction, species, etc.. My sense is that swf.com is simply making a disclaimer so that if you do have problems, they can say you were warned. That said, a 210 is a nice sized tank but...one large angel would be enough IMO. They are for the most part territorial, pushy and intolerant. Having a very large system (300+) gallons is not too much when considering keeping more than one. Large species and dwarfs or genicanthus can be mixed in smaller systems. It's often a matter of luck/temperament of the individual fish/hiding spots/territory. To say that no two angels can be kept together is not accurate however.

In a 55 no, IMO. Not enough space for them to stay out of each others way.

IME, a 55 is a great sized for a single centropyge, but not two. Eibli's can be nasty and as stated, there is simply not enough real estate for the fish to have their own space. Potters are a poor choice anyway.
