Multiple Tangs

I was wanting some advise. i have a 84g tank and i was wanting to add a purple tang but i already have a clown tang i was wondering if this would be ok.

The clown tang is one of the more aggressve tangs. But each fish has its own personality. IMO no. How long have you had the clown tang? how big is it.

i do not know about your clown tang but the one i had it was so mean every new fish i added he would go and kill it.so i traded mine back in to my lfs and never had any problems since then.
if yours is as mean as mine i would not add another tang. and mine was only about 2-4 in

Clown Tangs can reach 15" and are very agressive fish (and very difficult to keep). IMO, a 84 gal is way too small for a clown tang, long term. Also IMO, I think a purple would do well; but I'd sure never trust a CT with one, except in a huge set-up.

My CT is about 3 1/2" ive had him for about 4 months he is agressive towards the magfloat. i added a sixline about a month ago and hes fine with him. i also would like to know if you would be able to keep the purple tang with any other tangs in the 84 if the CT wasnt present.

You'll be fine. Just go for it. Science and Evolution has proven that tangs are becoming less and less agressive. You'll be fine. I think some people on this forum are just responding negatively out of hurt

my CT is not in the 84 gallon yet that why i was wondering if i introduce both him and a purple at the same time if it would work.

Welcome!
Finally some one has the same tank size as me.

Now is yours 72in long? I would say no on the CT, even though they are amazing, because the get a decent size and there aggresion. I just add a yellow tang and powder brown to my tank. They do good together but you have to add them at the same time. Pic's of the tank please.
