murky water

Hi, I just setup a new tank. Its a 30 gallon tank. The water was fine and I have 1 damsel and 1 clown fish in there for now. When I first set it up the water was fine, but when I added LR to it. The water gets all whitey murky(if thats the word for it). I try changin out the water but it does no good. Any help would be appreciated.

Is this a bacteria bloom? I waited a couple weeks to see if it would go away but its still the same.

It sounds to me that when you are doing water changes you are eliminating the "good" bacteria that should be building up. What type of filter are you using. If you are using a filter with any type of filter pad make sure that you rinse the pad atleast once a week, and make sure you use saltwater to rinse the pad. Using fresh water will kill the bacteria build up. This could be causing the problem. I have experienced the same problem before when I was lazy and rinsed my filter pad with fresh water. ANyone have any other take on this? What are you water parameters?

I am getting spikes in ammonia. I am using a pro quatic filteration system and a aqua-tech filteration system. thanks
