mushroom growth and light

I suspect that I too much light for my mushroom (6 T5).
The ones closer to the top of my 90 gal stay small and look sickly. The ones at the bottom look OK. But the ones hidden with no direct light thrive.
Is it normal?
Is there a way to have nice mushroom colonies with my light?
Would any supplement help?

Same thing with my shrooms I started them at the top of my tank and they stayed small and didn't look happy at all. I moved them to the bottom and they got huge :)

Yes, this is fairly common, but after a while the ones toward the top may adjust to the light and open up more. They are a lower light species of coral and that would explain the ones closer to the bottom looking better. I have 4 T5s, but my mushrooms look good no matter where they are in the tank, so like I said, the ones on the top may eventually adjust.
