Ok, this has to be about the strangest thing I've ever seen, one minute I'm snapping pics and then I notice one of my Green mushrooms has totally swollen up to the size of a round golfball, then I noticed this crab was inside and was climbing out......Weird...
It was almost like a Stephen King novel, I kinda looked down and saw this motion, then I saw a claw and all I could think of was Sigorne Weaver in ALIENS as that creature clawed his way out it's first victim, yuk

Okay, I'm going to need a little help here. I'm fairly new and am learning that there are all sorts of "alien" like activities that take place in this hobby. I've been learning so much about set up and fish that I haven't quite scratched the surface on corals.
What is taking place in this picture and how rare is it?
maxalmon- Amazing picture. What kind of camera is that?
Ok, found the original photo that I was taking when then all unfolded. The green ric is in the front and you can see the mushroom on the right hand side, this was taken maybe a minute before.

The pic. is of a hermit crab crawling out of a mushroom that closed up around the crab. The shroom sensed something was on it and closed so it could eat it. The shroom obviously could not so the crab was able to crawl out.
Very cool pics! Are you sure the shroom didnt have a piece of food that landed on it? They close up like that sometimes when eating. The crab could've gone in, eaten the food, and left.
Whatever the case, thanks for sharing the pics.
