Mushroom???

I purchased teal mushrooms from this site about a month ago. One of the mushrooms has a large white spot around it's mouth and is all shriveled. The rest of the mushrooms went through it also don't know if this will be repetetive but is something wrong here. The mushrooms are a total of 10 inches away from my lighting system of 192 watts of pc in a 45 gallon. They are higher than my rbta and my other corals (frogspawn, hammer, zoo's, kenya tree and they are all opened up). Are they getting enough light? I don't know if that white spot is a regular color change they go through.
The mouths on all the shrooms are white but I'm talking about a white spot about the size of a dime around the mouths of the shrooms. Usually when it happens they are sort of shriveled. Right now they have all 192 watts on and one shroom is shriveled up with the white spot.

i'm no expert but shrooms don't need to be 10 inches away from lights i have some that seem to get no light and they still do fine. maybe move them down. you might be frying them like an egg. but like i said i am no expert.

I agree. I have had shrooms in several areas in my tank and have found that they do the best on the ground as far as opening up full goes. Ones that I placed on top of some LR did shrivel like you are talking about and I moved them down and they are doing fine now.

My old shrooms did that, they looked like white worms. mind you my shrooms died after that....later I found out my PO4 was really high. never sure if that had anything to do with it but it wouldnt hurt to check.

I'll bring the shrooms down from the top. As for the PO4 it used to test at 1.0 before I added the shrooms had a problem with hair algae. I installed a phosban reactor and it has brought it down. I still have a little hair algae but I'll test for PO4 again. Thanks,
