Mushroom

I got a new mushroom (frag) which was not stuck to a piece of rock so i had to find somewhere where to place it so that it will stick on it's own.

I have 2 questions..

1 : I placed the mushroom in a specific piece of my structure and it kept on falling... I finally found a proper place where to put it. Will the mushroom die of lots of moving stress as it kept on falling and moving ?? Or will it survive ? Maybe take a longer period of time to actually open up ?

2 : The mushroom is now placed in a hole in the scape... will the mushroom stay in the hole and still pop out well ? Or will it stay closed because it is tightly fit in ?

Thanks a lot
Eric ;)

Hi,

Get yourself the container from cherries or cherry tomatoes....(the plastic container with a dome top with holes)

Put some rubble rock and your mushroom in the container (rinse it well with no soap) put the container into the tank, the holes will allow water flow without dislodging the coral to float helplessly around in the tank....in a few weeks the mushroom will attach to a piece of rock...use crazy glue GEL, and attach the small piece of rock with the mushroom attached to it to the place where you want it in the tank, apply a glob of glue and immediately attach to the rock and hold it for about 5 seconds. Don't get glue on the coral.

Flower's suggestion will work, but if you can take the rock you want the mushroom attached to out of the tank, here's what I would do. I use a piece of netting (or small opening mesh) and rubber bands to get my ricordeas and mushrooms to attach. You simply put the mushroom where you want it located on the rock, place a piece of the material over the mushroom, and use rubber bands to hold the edges down. Make sure it's not too tight so the mushroom isn't pinched. Once the mushroom attaches, usually within a couple of weeks, remove the material and enjoy.

Here's an older (crappy) picture of one of my rics in progress:

Hi all

thanks for your feedback ;)

Flower's suggestion worked and i also liked Pegasus's idea but i had already applied flower's method although i think netting will be neater in the aquarium and will not conflict with the wave flow :))

thanks a lot ;)
