I just got a really nice rock with great polyps of green spotted mushrooms from saltwaterfish.com along with some nice metallic green striped ones.
They opened up after acclimation and did well for the first 3 days.. now they are barely noticeable and I have maybe 5 polyps left that I can count.
What could cause this? I have had no problems with my sun coral or my purple plate coral. In the past I had a ricordea polyp that did well and unfortunately fell victim to a crab.
Calcium is at 400, pH 8.1, sg 1.022, temp 80.1 (been fluctuating between 79.1 and 82.0), nitrites < 0.5, nitrates in the 10-20 range (working on bringing this down with water changes), Current PC lighting, and 4 powerheads.
I placed 1 rock of polyps at the bottom and the other just a little higher.
I had a huge outbreak of cyano which is now 1/4 of what it was before. I have shortened lighting time and am working on getting the nitrates down to rid the tank of the cyano.
