I have a few pieces/sprouts of mushroom on some fiji live rock I just bought. I am new to the hobby and have a fish only setup but I was wondering what I might should do make the mushrooms florish as they are nice shade of red and green.

Denise,
I've had 'shrooms for around 8months and have had the chance to notice some behaviors. I think the main thing is they are low light corals and can be scalded by too much light...they will lighten in color all the way to white. Anyway, they seem to be real hardy but I would watch the water conditions and try to keep it as pristine as possible. The other thing I noticed is once I started supplementing, more for some nice anemones I added, their color also intensified, so just another sign...anyway, the other thing I thought I'd mention is feeding them directly has helped their growth immensley. I tend to do most of my feeding with a turkey baster, and I just simply squeeze a chunk of whatever I'm feeding on them, and they'll soon fold over the chunk and devour it! hope this helps!
Dave ;)

What would I feed them? How does Kent Corl-Vite sound as a "one stop shopping" supliment? The guy in the LFS said it had the most in it.

I don't feel you need to feed coral-vit or anything like that for just shrooms.
I've been feeding my shrooms a few pieces of brine shrimp about every other week.I use an eye dropper and just squirt a few shrimp on each one. They than fold up than eat it. I would also suggest shutting off power heads if they are pointed at all in the same general direcion as the shrooms. This will allow the brine to settle on the shroom and let it eat. I've been doing this for about six weeks and i have noticed a difference in groath and they just look healthier. Enjoy your new friends! :) HTH

yeah, not sure you need Coral-Vite just yet, I neglected what I was feeding them. Like fishfreek I'm feeding them just chunks of the frozen clam, squid, plankton...the normal stuff you pick up in cubes. I also agree with the current suggestion, try to minimize it so the food can settle on them as they're not venus fly traps that can snap shut hehe. Good luck with them friend! feel free to ask away! Dave :)
