Thank you! I LOVE Dean Martin! I've been listening to his music since I was a little girl bc my whole family adores him. The songs I listed are really special to me... especially That's Amore! My Grandpa sang that to me almost every day of my life and since he just passed away last month I've been listening to the song non stop.
My favorite singers are Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Louis Prima. I can listen to their music over and over again! My friends hate it lol
Oh! I'm so sorry to hear that. Now this music will mean so much more to you. And your friends nor any of us may never get it fully because this music doesn't come with all the memories that you have.
That's why I love music. It has the ability to color the memories we have. They are no longer "fuzzy" but in full focus.
When I listen to certain songs, it's like I am whatever age I was when I first heard it. Or I relive the events in my life that were happening.
It's not about what's cool or what everybody else is listening to, what's popular or what will impress people. Music is individual and unique for each person. If it touches you, then it touches you and everyone else may think it's stupid, but it's all opinion anyway. And you can't judge opinion.

You are absolutely correct. That is why I love music. Certain songs turn on certain memories in my life as well. like:
Big Wreck - Mistake, I always recall a memory of listening to it when I was a kid, thinking it was the coolest song in the world, back at my parents house.
BeeGee's - I will survive, This song reminds me of dancing at my highschool prom! haha

Want to Live Forever by Queen. Was the love song frome Highlander. Still makes me cry everytime I hear it.
Morning Song by Jewel. It is something so simple but so we written and sweet.
Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd. Still my favorite song of all time.
God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood. heard this when I finished the Crucible in boot camp. I still get choked up.
If you're Reading this- Tim McGraw. The ultimate sad war time song. Very bitterweet. So many people I knew that are gone now.....

Thought of a couple more:
Imagine - John Lennon
India.aire - Video (I love Woman power songs)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujGfDTNQ7cM
Be Happy - Mary J. Blige
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1j-1Ww6K4g
Work What You Got - Mary J. Blige (Another YAY WOMEN song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jZxR70w3Vs
Try a Little Tenderness - Otis Redding (He sings likes he's gonna crawl off the stage and die after he's done)
I Fall To Pieces - Patsy Cline
Someone here mentioned about Country songs. Like "real" Country. Merle Haggard. Not a song of his that doesn't make you wanna drink a beer and cry. This song is not for the weak hearted

I had to represent the more upbeat songs a little more. Not all soul stirring songs are slower.
