W00t. i feel like a big kid now.. ive came a long long way since my first post. and find myself helping people more and more each day.. and learning more and more each day.. this board is amazing.. i woulda probably wasted tons of money and time with out it. not to mention probably given up cause i woulda ran into alot of trouble. This site is the best out there. Especially with people like bang guy, kip(come back!), nm reef, thomas, waterfaller1, beth, and everyone, there is alot of really good info here.
lol and when i look back at this i can really see how much i learned, here is my first post.

just bought a 55 gallon tank today. dont know alot about saltwater tanks. and i want to do alot of research before i start to set it up and all. ive read around on these fourms for a while and saw some helpfull info.
here are some basics questions i have
best way to get started now that i have the tank?
what kinda of filters do i need?
benifits of a reef tank vs. a fish only tank or vice vera?
could you guys load me up with all the beginer info i need?
live sand?
water changes?..how do you do them?
anywhere i can find a guide to tell me what fish are safe with what.
i really want a lionfish or 2? what should i know before getting one?
websites for info?
any info will help.. i dont want to rush into things and mess up bigtime. and money is kinda tight at times, so im going to take it slow. thanks in advance for the help. look forward to posting with you all.

it was that post that really got me started, i owe alot of what i know to you guys.. posting on here is tons of fun and by far the best fourm ive ever been a part of.
and a big big big thanks goes out to waterfaller1 for all the help ive gotten from her and her boyfriend(tell him i said thanks to).. ive learned some cool things visting your house and tank.. and i cant thank you enough for the free coral frags youve gave me.. and for letting me know about dougs shop.. its been one of the biggest helps ive gotten. thanks carole!

this would never be like this without this site.. thanks guys.. and thanks to saltwaterfish.com for providing this fourm. :happyfish :happyfish

Congrads...and the thanks are to you and the many other active members...this place is what each of you have made it.
Been a pleasure to have you join us and I hope you stick around for many more 1000's....and nice job with your system!
By the way...my first posts were attempts to find out how to mix the salt and what the correct levels would be...I knew absolutely zero...and still learn daily.
