My 190 inwall

The tank is a 190 gal reef ready measuring 78"Lx24"Tx24"D. As for lighting I have 3 SE 250 12K Reeflux metal halides in Lumenarc III reflectors. I'm using a 100 gal acrylic tank for a sump along with a DIY skimmer w/sedra 5000 needle wheel pump, DIY Kalk reactor, and DIY Calcium reactor. I'm using a Reeflo Dart for my return along with a OM 4-way with penductors on the outlets. The tank was a replacement of my 380 due to a HIGH electric bill($1075 per/mth :scared: ). The tank has been setup since July 06. I started with frags of corals I use to have since I went threw a acro flatworm battle in the old tank. The tank was start with the rock and sand from the old tank but was kill so no bugs/worms came from the old tank. It sat in my backyard for 2 weeks in 110 degrees.

That was with my 380 with a 3/4 hp chiller, 4 400 watt MHs, and 5 decent sized pumps. The wife showed me the bill and I almost messed myself. The tank was only 1 year old.
Here's a few pics of the 380.

Sweet setup on the 190. I love all the DIY equip. Wish I was that talented.

Must have been tough taking that 380 down after the crash.
Looks great. Thanks.

Sweet setup...Are the lights on a track? Looks like you can move them to do maintenance..
Have you ever looked into solar power, even for just the tank..

The lights for the 380 were on closet tracks and I don't need them now for the 190. The Lumenarcs are great. I have been using them for 3-4 years now.

Bigred, just out of curiousity, how much extra did the 380 add to your electricity bill. Also, how much did it decrease after switching to the 190. We are planning to build a new house in the next few years, and I am planning to have an in-wall tank too. Right now, the plan is for a 320gal. But, they may have to change as I am not willing to spend $1000/month.
Anybody else have info on how much their bill went up due to a large tank.
I appreciate the info.

After the fact of taking down the 380 I figured out what was the main cause of the $1000 electric bill. I had a 3/4 hp chiller which was in my garage and couldn't cool itself off and would end up blowing a 20 amp breaker which would end up being about $500 a month by itself. This was when it was 110-118 outside and my garage would get to 120. Before I was running the chiller my bill ran about 500-600 per month. Where are getting your tank? I got mine at Miracle Aquariums. Great people and great service.
