my 29gallon heater

Actually, it does sort of come with one. The lights keep it plenty warm. I was told the biocube didn't need a heater but I figure it MAY need one in the winter since I don't like running the heater.
I've heard the plastic grating in the first chamber can be removed so a heater can fit there. That is what I'm going to do. I'm going to pick up a Visi Therm Stealth.

Yeah, I don't use one on mine for now either. If anything, I've had to float a plastic tub of ice thru the feeding cover to keep my temp down which has worked really well. I don't feel buying a chiller for this size is worth it. I live in NorCal and in the valley to boot where it gets quite warm. We'll see in the winter months how this changes though. I have seen short ones for sale that will fit in the 1st chamber so that you don't have to break through the grate on the bottom.

I have as well. But the visi-therm I want is 10/13 inches long (haven't decided on which one yet).
Of course right now, my issue is heat. It's pretty darn hot in South Texas this time of year. I didn't think of the ice in plastic idea! I was even going to see if I could freeze saltwater! Nice tip Reefernana! Tanks!

There's a brand of thinly sliced lunch meats that come in a ziploc container w/a red lid that fits perfectly thru the front feeder lid. It actually can rest on the lips of the open lid so that the bottom of the container just hits the top of the water. It does work really well cuz it's been hot here, too!
