Hey, girl! I know this is an old thread, so I hope you find this! I am setting up a 65g hex for erectus. Was wondering what you have in there for flow?? I am thinking about 2 vertical spray bars in the rear of tank towards each side. I was looking, but didnt notice any ph in your fts.
Do I see 3 returns? 2 in front on each side and 1 in back?? Since you set up is close to what I want/need to do, could you offer any advice?
Thanks, Amy

Yes, I had a 1 inch hole drilled, with an internal overflow. No return holes though. I was planning to come over top with spray bars. Hmm...
My hole is drilled about the same place as your close loop outflow. Was just going to take that to refugium and return with pump to spray bars.
Like the idea of a closed loop better than powerheads. Wonder if I should have a 2nd hole drilled for this??

I love my closed loops.
The returns from the sump come up over the top there... you can see the PVC running along the top.

Well, you got me thinking. Thanks for the quick response, awesome info, great pictures/diagram and as always, love your tank.

Definitely will consider the closed loop idea. The only thing holding me back is I already have some water and live rock in there to start the cycle going. It will be a lot of trouble to empty it out and take it to be drilled and it is glass so I'm too skeered to drill it myself.
Really tempting though. I may just have to tear it apart this weekend and get it done. Are those all 1 inch pipes? What pump are you using for the closed loop? How many gph total?? Thanks again, Amy

MJ 1200 in the sump and an old model of external quiet one on th eCL. No one knows the rating on the pump, it's abotu 10 years old and before Pentair bought out Rainbow, Life Gard.
We also have a little power head in the overflow that bring water back in to the surface. I'll get in there and get a pic tomorrow when I have some day light.
