my 75

HELLO.
I HAVE a 75 gallon tank.
I for sure want a lionfish. It's between a antennata and a radiata. I also have other fish in mind like a snowflake eel, a harlequin tuskfish, and a clown triggerfish. What of these fish could go in my tank.

You could do either lionfish IMO. The snowflake eel would be fine with the lion.... the harlequin tuskfish would be a tight fit in a tank of that size.... so I would say no to it just to be safe. No way with the clown triggerfish.... very poor choice for a lion's tank mate.

What if the lion and clown were same size and pit in tank same time?
There is always a possibility that they can be compatible, but the chances are really really really small. NOT worth taking IMO at all.
What would most likely happen is that the clown would start nipping at the fins of the lion, and that would stress the lion out and kill it. Not to mention that a 75 is too small for an adult clown trigger. A 125 min for it IMO.

My triggers loved to nip at the fins of my fu manchu lionfish..and they were smaller than him by 4 or so inches... just not a good pair.
also keep in mind lionfish make alot of waste so that plus a eel in a 75mess is about as much bioload as you want to start with for a while...
there are a few choices for tankmates for lions, but none I think would fit with him in a 75g

I will be getting a 180 gallon eventually. What lionfish tankmates are there then? With the bigger yank could I have the clown trigger? Also which lion- radiata or antennata?

still NO triggers..
but maybe a foxface rabbitfish..
some of the larger wrasses you could give a try.. they can be mean too..
could try groupers, tangs.. some more docile fish but ones that can hold their own...

And keep in mind the best intentions dont mean anything when you lose you job or dont have money to get that 180... so start out with just the lionfish and the eel.. and WHEN you get the larger tank THEN get more fish.. unless you get these 3 very tiny (like I did with my triggers and know for 3 or 4 years they will be fine if you cant upgrade)...

It doesn't matter what those tankmates are. When you get the 180, we can talk about it more.
I know what I just said sounds harsh... but, most of the time these upgrades don't happen.
Focus on stocking your 75 correctly than stocking your 75 for a 180 that you plan to get in the future. You never know what will happen that will prevent you from getting a bigger tank.

Due Ik what u mean. If I want
A volitan or radiata or antennata lionfish
A clown triggerfish
A California stingray
A snowflake eel.
Which of these should i put in my 75 gallon for the time being?
