My Acan is bleaching, help?

My Acan looks like he's turning white. What would cause this? I have T5HO lighting and the coral is down near the bottom. Not on the sand, but one rock above. What can I do? Is he dying?

Too much light probably. Try lowering it or putting it in a shaded area. Acans are not a high light coral.

never seen an acan "bleach", but ive seen an acan show its skeleton when it is very unhealthy. is the tissue still expanding, but white? or is it not expanding

The same thing happened to part of mine, the tissue was turning white under my metal halide. I moved it up higher but not under the direct light and it seems to be doing and looking better.

Yea, I had it up mid way on the rocks in the direct light of my halide. The tissue started to turn white and look almost transparent. I moved the acan up higher but not in the direct light.

acans dont even need a MH light to be healthy, i dont know why you moved it up higher? i find the more shade and less flow mine have the better they are

I have some acans that are doing the same thing. they still behave ok. There is a small cluster near the bottom of my tank and all the polyps exposed to the lighting directly has bleached white. i can't move mine but im not worried about them surviving. They seem to be doing great aside from losing some color. lucky for me they weren't some really bright colored expensive acans. you'll probably be ok.
