Ive had this anemone for a about 5 months in my small 12 gallon Nano Cube. It awlays seemed to be doing ok. I posted this same pciture in another forum and some one said that the anomone wasnt healthy because it didnt sped its. . . .zoo something? Is this correct? What kind of anemone is this? Whats the best way to feed this thing? I wish i didnt have to ask these questions after 5 months, but i think i got some bad info at my petstore. Hope you guys can help

They were right. I has lost all its zooxanthellae and is bleached. It can't get energy from the light because of the lack of the zooxanthellae. Looks like it could be a haitian by the orange of its foot, but it is much wider than the haitians i have seen. Feed it meaty foods like mysid shrimp or squid every other day. Try to feed something other than brine shrimp because they aren't very nutritious at all. Just put the food on its tentacles and it should grab a hold and eat it.

I totally understand your frustration. I have to really be quick to catch my clown off guard so that I can get a net between him and my LTA. Thats the only way I can feed my anemone. Its totally whacko and hides inside its host, sometimes between the tentacles and the sand too. So I watch until he wanders behind some rock and quickly interject the net and keep watch till my anemone has eaten. Not sure how you lure crabs away.....

Erock, I would definatly try to feed it about every three of four days. But we should also examin what type of lights you have to see if its enough to bring the anemone back to health.
When they get in this condition I always have to look twice to determine if it is a BTA, LTA or Sebae, with the tenticals on this one I'd lean to the LTA as well, the placement of those tenticals are more spread out to the outside, Sebae would be more uniform toward the central disk. IMO. foot in the substrate, wider than many BTA's. Orange foot you say?

Love your feather duster. What color is it? Purple, Pink etc? Looks purpleish in the picture. I have a white one, they are so gracefull swaying in the water. See pic below
Can someone tell me if there is an easy to keep anemone that is not fussy on the lighting requirement for a 10 gal nano tank.

Debbie, in all honesty, any kind of DESIRED anemone will not fair long term in your setup
