Well after a year on Saltwaterfish.com i've finally hit 1000+ posts. I'm very happy about this and thought y not start a thread soliciting questions to push me over the 1000 mark. So i'll open it up to anyone out there to start asking any question they want. We'll see how much i've learned after 1 message board, 2 lfs, 2 nano tanks, and many many books.......

hmm Pythagoras. I believe has to do with right triangles. Seeing as how most sails these days are triangle sales rather than square sails. i would think the the sail needs to be raised to the right variable angles in addition to the 90 degree angle, which adds to 180 in any triangle, to capture the proper amount of wind.....
Other than that pythagoras can frikin, well.....

Mesopotamia was in the middle east wasn't it? Or what is now the middle east. Seeing as how i'll soon be a certified abet school acredited Computer/Electrical Engineer i have no idea about mesopotamia other than isreal could probably win a war with that whole area on its own if we let them out of the cage we keep them in, and let them take care of their own......

Oh yeah forgot about the sand sifters..... With all the intense thinking about philosophical and mathematical dilemnas i lost sight of my goal :)
I don't know much about sand beds. I would think for them to be healthy and active that you do need sand sifters. But specific sand sifters. In that sense only snails would be applicable. They will dig in the sand but will not eat the life contained therein, such as cerith snails and nassarius snails.
Starfish, gobies, etc, etc would not benefit a sand bed due to their feeding nature. They would sift through the sand and consume any resources that are in it. So while the sand may harbor beneficial bacteria it can't sustain any macro?life that may be growing in it due to the predatory nature of those sifters.....
YAY 1000 posts. Ok now i think im going to go to sleep cause my brain hurts. I'll be back to answer more daunting questions later tonight :)

I have to think up a name below my name now. I left it to be determined. In all seriousness kip and the mods know about DSB more so than me. I personally don't like them much asthetically speaking but am of the mind to get things that sift through the sand but don't eat it barren....

Well. Lets see. I have acro's, porites, montipora digitata and capricornus, and a seriatopora, which is growing 9 new nubs in and branch splitting in 3 weeks time. Plus its regained all its original color from being a very pale golden brown....
