my clarkii has lost his mind

Okay, I have a clarkii and he was hosting a condi anenome until the condi committed suicide using one of my powerheads. Anyway the clown has looked real unhappy since then trying to host everything from a leather to the sand. So I bought a BTA last week and it has settled on the side of one of my rocks, sorta sitting sideways. Just where I wanted him
. The clown has started kicked the sand around as though he is trying to dig a hole in front of the anenome. WHAT IS HE DOING??? He is covering up 2 other corals that I have sitting there with sand. A plate and a sun coral. What should I do??????????

Use a turkey baster or a power head to blow the sand off the surrounding corals. Most likely he isn't going to stop until he has gone all the way to the glass, and even then he will probably keep the area clean with daily sweepings.

my maroon clown does the same thing from time to time. he dusted off a rock for about a week straight. she is a big female. now she clears out the sand around the rock. i was told that since my maroon is a big female it thinks its going to nest like thomas said. good thing though, she keeps my substrate spotless!!!! i wouldnt worry about it. move the corals

I hope he settles soon I havent got any more room to put those corals he is covering. But you were right he kept digging till he is to the bottom of the tank. I think he is frustrated with the anenome because of the odd way he is sitting. Sideways, instead of straight up so he cant really get in the anenome and rest he has to still swim. Oh well. :happyfish
