My cleaner shirmp won't come from under a rock. It satys there moving back and forth but not coming out. It is hooked to the rock upside down. I have had it for like 18 hours. Should I be worried? <img src="graemlins//bah.gif" border="0" alt="[bah]" />

he's only been in there for eighteen hours imagine if you got thrown into a place you've never been before after being yanked from another you place you've never been before after being yanked from you're home.... anyway.. give him some time he'll come out..and jw's right they are very very social in pairs if you have the room i'd get another one. I have two of them and they hide under ledges until feeding time or when i try to clean the inside of the glass then they run up and start picking at my arm.. cleaning it.. it's so funny you'll enjoy him.. good luck.

the only time i worry about mine is when they molt. when they molt there are vulnerable to predators. That's how I lost one when my sally light foot attack a cleaner shrimp. other than that they are only very active when they see me approaching to feed.

mine take almost anything from my hand, but i mainly feed them chopped krill, silversides, and chopped grocery raw shrimp. they grow fast.

I have had mine for over a week and they still hide under my rock. How would you feed them by hand if they never come out? I feed frozen brine in the morning and formula 2 at night but the shrimp don't seem interested

they will hang under a rock or ledge they use their antennas as a flag. they actually set up a cleaning station and use their flags to attract fish. also when you turn out the light he probably wonders around a lot more. also if you added a 2nd he should come out more. my pair always come out when i feed the fish and grab the leftovers that the fish dont get and very active at night.

I've got a cleaner in two tanks and it took both a couple of days before they got adjusted to the new surroundings. It doesn't take long before they will be all over the tank and when you put your hand in they'll be all over it. I have found both of mine like the Kent Marine Reef Herbivore pellets. Just put one or two close by and they'll find it. :)
