i've been reading this book and to add to the info about if you see the clowns are about to lay eges move them to the other tank. one will stay and guard the eggs. and once your are able to raise them successfull if they can swim on their own you are suppose to take out the parents.
Thats not a book I would rely upon very heavily unless you mis-read and the book said to move the eggs before they hatch and not the parents.
in answer to the OP. the eggs will hatch in 7-9 days. I wouldnt worry about raising the first batch or 2.. Take the time to not gestation and spawning frequencies.. get some rotifer cultures going (its easy) and pick up "Clownfishies" by "Joyce Wilkerson".
Some people use a flashlight to draw the larva to the light and scoop them out into a larval tank. I and many others prefer to slip a tile in where the eggs were layed to let the clowns spawn on the tile, then move the tile on hatch night.
