thanks guys....I would have to say that green and orange are the best looking colors under the actinics. Those pics dont actually do my GSP and orange zoo's any justice. Definately cool. When i first started doing my aquarium the plan was to be fish only, but after i bought my first frag i totally went the other way. Reef is so much more fulfilling!!

I had originaly planned on doing a FOWLR also. But after looking at some of the beautiful reef setups I quickly purchased some lightin, and repossitioned my LR to accomodate a reef tank. No reefs yet, but very much looking forward to it. Your tank looks great. Any recomendations of a good starter?
Great tank!

thanks for the compliment!
I am just a peon when it comes to reef knowledge. From what i have done so far, i know that xenia grows really really fast and looks very cool. Its my favorite of all the corals i have, it shows its life through the finger grasping motion...very cool! Zoo's are really cool to, lots of color, lots of fast growth. Mushrooms and cabbage seem to grow pretty good too. And lastly Green star polyps, those are bright green things in the top pic.
I suggest getting frags...they are cheap $10-15. That way if you kill it accidently you dont feel so bad. Plus it's really cool to watch em grow
I'm not from the flint area, so i dont know whats around. But if you can pull off a trip to lansing. I highly suggest going to pruess animal house. THey have an amazing salt water selection and a very large frag tank. I have purchased a few things there, i believe they charge a tier: 1 for $20, 5+ for $15 each, or 10+ for 12.50 r something. Definaly a cheap way to get your reef rolling
feel free to ask more questions. if i can help i will!!

I will have the day lighting and moonlights on my tank. I am wondering if it is worth adding the actinics on just for looks to create the dawn to dusk effect? How do you like your lighting set up?

actinics make a night and day difference....pun intended. If you want i'll take a pic of my tank with just 10,000k and then 10,000k + actinics together. I guarentee you'll order actinics tomarrow. The glowing effect is only evident under actinics.
