I've had this xenia and 3 stripe damsel for 2 years now..... all of a sudden the damsel is biting the ends off the xenia!! The xenia seems to be ok, the rest of it is still pulsing.... why would he start eating this? Also my yellow tang likes to pick at my cactus coral..... aren't these guys reef safe?

all fish are different, damsel's as they get bigger get meaner. I will place a rock, shell or frag and 2 min. later my yellow tail will move it or knock it down. As for your tang give him a clip of nori to eat instead of your coral, see if that works.

I guess my 3 stripe damsel is getting to that age!! Last night I watched him bulldoze my finger leather coral which is on a rock that was wedged into my LR!!! (It's on the sand be now!)The piece of coral is about 10X the size of the damsel!! Little bugger is one of my favorites too!
