My damsel

My yellow tail damsel i noticed has a whitespot by his gill. It looks like a piece of dead scale the spot isn't very big at all. I think i know what it is but i need some help on how to treat it and to identify it. I don't have a QT tank. This is the only fish i have and it's not a reef tank. Sorry i don't have a picture.

Did you just get this fish? How is the fish doing otherwise: eathing, breathing, swiming?

He is eating breathing and swimming just fine. I got him a week ago.
