This is weird but they change colors, when the lights are on they look there normal color(blue with yellow tails). However, when I first turn on the lights in the tank they look sick, they are white and pale and they even move like there dying, they won't eat.
Is this normal, Is everything ok with them, I have alot of food laying everywhere because they did not eat this morning and I went to college mad because i thought they were dying.
Oh well someone please give me some insite on this weird thing.

Some fish changes color at night. I know my yellow tang, mandarin and when I had them, my damsels. They look pale and sick, but that's normal. Once you turn on the lights, they'll go back to normal. The food on the bottom is maybe from overfeeding. Test your water, but I think you are fine.

my yellow tang always looks white in the morning when the lights come on. Same as the mandarin, cardinals, and striped damsels.
I think this is normal since they regain their color almost within 15-30 minutes after the lights come back on in the morning.

our chromis and damsels we had, all did that, i was worried too, until the lfs told us that was normal, today, i would not have listened to the lfs but then i did, anyhow they still do and we're looking at a year with them
zowie, imissed that:
as for them not eating, maybe your ammonia problem, and a lot of food on the bottom of your tank, could be your ammonia problem we discussed earlier

When I resized my tank and put in my yellow tail damsels, they went from blue to purple and have not changed back to blue since I have had my new tank set up. (2 months). I think it is normal for them to change colors though.
