My experiment / aka ~Am I crazy??

My hubby asked if i'd like an early xmas present {fish} so of course seahorses...but the more I thought,I started thinking kelloggis....My first sh were dwarfs, and my first big horses were kelloggi....But if I knew then what I know know it I might have been able to save them....anywho I got 2 VERY small kelloggis on tuesday...1 1/2" maybe....just as long as my dwarfs , but stockier....babies , not juvies...I gave them a 9 min long freshwater dip....and they ate after acclimizing....I plan on formalin dipping them tom.[thurs] and starting a 3- 24 hour course of prazipro on sat......then the long qt....at least until mid march....maybe april....They ate the smaller pieces of mysis as soon as they were in there tank [woohooo] and ate good today....Eventually they'll be going into there own tank , no other fish , just snails as CUC ....But thats not until spring...I've always thought about my kelloggis...my most active and flirty of all my horses , and was scared to try them again.. ..Now my kelloggi expirement begins...I love these horses...btw...there so small I had to cover my filter with a nylon...just like my dwarfs !!

Keeping the sg at 1.024 and temp at 72 constant....thinking maybe deeper water horses need higher sg and lower temps???? Any suggestions??? My erectus , reidis are kept at 74 and 1.022 , dwarfs are kept at 76-78- and 1.019... I'll update there size and progress every couple weeks

Wow, They are small and very cute. Good Luck with them.
I think there is someone here that has been successful with kelloggi, I believe I read he keeps them at a lower themp them other tropicals like erectus and reidi.

Thanks T ! I hope they do well... I have all the meds on hand just in case....Yours are beauties too....congrats and have a great christmas !!

new pics of my kellogis....they did well with their prazipro worming treatments and are getting bigger...maybe 2-2 1/2" now....waiting for their new tank to mature and establish , maybe end of march , april or even may till I feel comfortable ....I've learned to err on the side of caution with kelloggis

Temp is kept at 70-72f , sg at 1.024 and plan on adding more live rock to there new tank tommorow....will post new pics next week or so

They are eating like little piggies....a full cube split between 3 meals...1 feeding at 9am , 1 at 1pm and another at 5pm....Every lil piece of shrimp is GONE...hehe...so glad...how was your new year T ?

He's a great hubby....I can always tell when he's had a bad day at the office ....He'll grab a beer and sit in front of a tank and zone....then another beer , move to another tank...lol...he can sit there for hours...i'm just glad he loves the horses as much as I do...AND he actually LIKES to clean the filters....must be a male machenical thing{sp i know]...will post pics later....just getting a lot of glare with lights off or on, not to mention my photography skills

There new tank ....I'll be adding some red firebush and codium next week, and some VERY bad pics of them....I was trying to get them out and swimming to chart there growth, but they weren't cooperating today

They are all doing well...I'm concerned about my smallest one though....she's eating well , but not growing as fast as the others....tomm. another 3 -24 hour prazipro treatment for her, and no signs of illness...just not growing at the same rate as the others....I'm just going to have to watch her....My largest is going into their new tank around march 1st....some new macro's , blade and "banana" aka perlati caulerpa [ least likely to go sexual, although I plan on upgrading lighting ] Will take some pics tonight when the babies are sleeping

In the middle pic is my new spotted manderin....eating frozen mysis
it was very easy to convert to frozen, maybe too easy....hehe , we'll see how he does , but eating great now
