My filthy little water.

HELP ME PLEASE! My water looks a little " dusty" all the time. I put filters in my sump, I have filters in my trickle tank but it always seems a little dusty all the time. PH8.5, hydrometer reads 1.020, nitrates and amonia are very low. I am begining to get a brown algea accumulation also. How can I clear it up to "SHOW QUALITY".Are small water changes weekly the key?

Welcome to the board,
First off, if you are cycling this tank, don't do any water changes as this will only prolong things. You need to tell us a little more ie; live sand or crushed coral, powerheads? if so how many? Are you using RO/DI or tap? Do you run carbon in your sump? If not, this may help. A UV sterilizer will also make your water nice and clear however, if it's a reef tank, that's not the way to go.
You need to find out what's making your water cloudy. This is just a thought so please don't be insulted but do you clean the glass? Sometimes a small film of algea will accumulate which makes the tank appear hazy. Also, don't worry about the brown algea. Those are diatoms and are a good sign that the tank is maturing. BTW, how old is the tank?
