my fire fish has white tiney swolen dots on body not fins

there are about 6 white dots on him like a zit only on one side. i did see him dive into the sand bed i guess to scratch. dont have a qt tank but if an emergency ill get one going. he is probably stressed out. i just put new lights and put a small tank into disply tank for a colt frag so there was alot going on in 1 day for him. i have 1 six line, lawnmower blenny, yellow tail damsel, and fire fish. he is the new addition 1 month ago. in a qt tank will i need a filter or will a tank with no sand, filter, just heater and light work. <img src="graemlins//eek.gif" border="0" alt="[eek]" />

If this fish has ick, you will have to treat all the fish. Ick is very contagious and once other fish are exposed, then they will all need to be treated.
There are many treads on treatment as well as how to setup a hospital.
Do a search for Hyposalinity, QT, hospital tank...that should get you a lot of info. If you need more help, then post back.

thank you but i have never har salt water fish with ich just fresh water. my oscars just got white dots on there fins so is that what it is?

another thing i have a 10 gal tank but not a filter. just some details on qt. i didnt find it in the search. can i go filterless? how often do i change the water. my main tank is 29 gal if i keep taking water out of it every day to fill my qt will my main tank cycle again? qt dosent need cycling if i use main tank water right? what is the chance of killing my fish? last one can i put my fish in the qt now? sorry for all the questions i didnt find those things out in search.

You can go mechanical filterless and just use a powerhead, particular aimed at surface water to obtain good gas exchange.
You should to water changes every day and also clean up any debris left by food of fish waste. You will have to prevent the tank from cycling.

i havent put him into qt yet. this morning i woke up and no spots were on him. is it ich or something else. still no spots on oher fish. do i still need to qt them?
