My first fish!

My tank has been doing well. I have a small amount of hair algae and I hope it will soon dissapear. I'm not sure why it is showing up as my nitrates and phosphates are very low. My clean up crew seams to be happy so I added a few fish today. They are the first in the tank. At the LFS I knoticed a Reagal Blue Tang and a Clown in the same tank. I asked how long they had been together and the reply was"about four weeks". I figured that if they had been together this long that they must enjoy each others company... :) I followed the SWF aclimation guide and added them to the tank. The Tang immediently started puffing water at the DSB and sucked up all the algae he could find. What amazed me is that the Clown followed him every where. It was amaizing! After about twenty min. I dropped in some food just to get them used to it and this is one of the shots I was able to take. Sorry for the book but I was amazed at how they were best buds!!! :) :) :)

That is really cool... you've got yourself a real-life Dory and Nemo there... who'da thunk it?! :D

OK - I have to ask... Is that the Nemo movie thing? When I was leaving the LFS a boy said something like that and his Mother told him to hush. I kinda figured it was something to do with the movie - but I have not seen it. I know the Clown was featured but what is a "Dory"?

Very nice combination of fish...just out of curiosity how long has your system been set up and cycled. It shows you have a 170 but I don't recall much info about it. The two fish you added should be well together...I'm just curious about additional info about your system.:thinking:

Nemo and Marlin (son/father) are percs in the movie... it's actually Marlin (the dad) who befriends a hippo tang named Dory.

The tank cycled about a two months ago. I added the SWF 100+ cleanup crew about three weeks ago. The pretty much chowed down on all the algae that acumulated and now I bought the fish. I wanted the Tang to finish off any of the hair algae that I have (and he seams to really like it!). I live in a very small town (pop. 800) and the SWF store is great. The prices are a little high compared to the net but they have great service. The Tang was about $10.00 more then most internet houses but he wasn't shipped and bounced around - the aclimation (IMHO) is easier. BTW - Here is a pic of the cleaner shrimp I bought from them. I can't walk past the tank without him following me arround... :)
