Looks like you've got a good start going there. What sort of plans do you have for this tank? Reef? FOWLR?

the tank is 45 tall and is going to be a reef. My lights right mow are regular lights (this is the way i'm making my self build slow) I have 55 pounds live rock 5 pounds of base. I have prizm pro deluxe skimmer 2 ph a trickle filter that i am using for water movement and I am waiting to get my new top for my magnum 350 canister. My levels have all been really good for about 1 month. I dose kalk once a week and am staring to notice some coraline growth

Looks like you are starting out very nicely. I think it will be an awsome tank. How do you dose your kalk?

Good start. The hardest thing to do is go slow but it's also the smartest. Fortunately for most of us cash is the great slower/downer!
Welcome to the addiction, I mean boards!

I have taken a gallon plastic coffe can and drilled a hole in the bottom of it, put a piece of airline in sealed with aquarium silicone adn put a valve on the end. Then i just adjust the valve to get the flow i want I do have a question for you guys, can someone tell me the best way to get the ugly stuff my clean up crew does not get off my sand. I don't want to continuously vacam up sand. I know somebody has a better way of doing it.

Might I suggest a cheap way to hide all the unsightly over the tank equipment you've got. Go to Walmart and buy yourself some blue or green wrapping paper - metalic sheen is what I use. Cover the back of the tank. You'll love it. Mostly you'll get a mirror effect - with a blue or green tint. If you don't like it, you spent $3 and some time.

Nope, the toughest thing to do is to explain to people why and how much you paid for a freaken rock.

I agree G my wife couldn't believe how much live rock was. I was pretty lucky though. When I got my first twenty pounds of live rock the guy at my lfs gave it to me because he hadd a customer give it to him because he was moving. My lfs live rock tank was packed so he had no place to put it. Right place right time I guess. The owner of my lfs has just been super as far as giving me good sound advice. He always gave me the first pick of the new live rock when it came in and also gave me a good deal. He has been so good that I if I could get something a little cheaper someplace else I always bought it from him. He just told me he could get me a 72 bowfront with vho lights and the stand for $370. He said he would make a little money, plus he knew I had to fill it up.

my tank already has a blue back on it. I don't like the look of all the stuff hanging on the back either. I am thinking of building my own sump to get all of that stuff under the tank. The whisper 30- 60 filter will be gone wed when my new top for my magnum comes in. My 4 year old son dropped it down the steps and broke the intake off of it. Gotta loves those kids!!!

Great start to your tank.
I've noticed alot of people list their intrests as golf and swf. I think that has alot to do with the patience you mentioned. I know I took up both so I wouldn't yell at so many people :)

swf will definately teach/test your patients, while golf if nothing elde will teach humility. The problem with doing both is they can get ridiculously expense if you do not do your homework

Bearfan,
It sounds like you've got a great relationship with your LFS. There isn't really one store I around here that I would consider "my store", but I was just wondering what shop you go to, so I could check it out if I haven't been there yet.

The place is called Finatics. Its in Galesbyrg Illinois. He is so small that he is last on the delivery trail, so sellection is not always the best, but he is fair and if you tell him you want something he will get for you with no extra charge. You might just have to wait awhile.
