My First Tank 90G

:jumping: Here is a picture of my 2 true perculas from my very first tank that is a 90 gallon and has been running for 3 months now. I am very proud of myself because I spent alot of time reading and researching saltwater tanks before I attempted it and so far it has been a great success, knock on wood. I have only lost one fish which was a copperband butterfly which must not have been a very smart fish because he got a tad too close to my long tentacle anemone one night and met his fate. Anyway I currently have 90 pounds of live rock, 2 true perculas, 1 red spotted hawkfish, 1 blue green bird wrasse, 1 diamond sleeper goby, 1 yellowtail puffer, 1 hippo tang, 1 long tentacle anemone, and various crabs and snails. My favorite fish is a clown trigger which I dont have because he wouldnt be good in this tank. To the point, I just want all the newbies out there to know that it can be done with alot of patience and perseverance (and money, haha). Its definatly not a cheap hobby but it is a very rewarding one. Keep trying!!

Is that last picture a torch coral? If so, how did it kill your copperband? I have both a torch coral and a copperband. I don't want to lose either one!

Hi Dory36, I think you are okay, it is a long tentacle sea anemone not a torch coral. LTA's have very potent stings.

Oh, good. That's a relief! That picture really looked like a torch coral. I'm not exactly up to snuff on my acronyms! :D Great looking tank, by the way. :)

It looks like you're off to a good start! :D We started our first tank, a 12g nano, back in August and quickly moved up to a 75g. This hobby is very addicting and very expensive!
Hmm...maybe that should be a:

 Yes isnt it always the most expensive hobbies that are addictive. I would love to have a 200 gallon or so in my living room but I think I would go bankrupt buying live rock. Maybe one day after alot of saving pennies, hey I do have a tax return coming soon :jumping:

My husband says no more fish tanks! I would love to have an aggressive tank, but honestly, we're running out of wall space. I had thought about having one in my classroom at school, but I don't think that'd work too well unless it was freshwater. We're getting a tax refund this year, too, and my husband has already said it's for new tires for his truck. Oh, well. Maybe I can get him to surrender some for a new fish or two!
:cheer:

 Well my husband has no one but himself to blame for my new found love of salt water fish. He bought me this tank for my birthday and ever since I have asked for fish for all holidays. He bought me the red spotted hawkfish and the 2 clowns for valentines day. Cant wait for the next holiday!!! I think he loves the tank just as much as me although he will never admit it, but I find him standing in front of it almost as often as I do.

I'd just buy it for her... Thats awesome that she likes eels... Most girls wouldn't touch an eel with a 49.5ft. pole.:D

she is awesome. as soon as we got him home she was asking if she could hand feed him. she didnt try cause she is a lil scared of my niger trigger. but she really wanted too. she is very intrested in the hobby and learning very quick. its been alot of fun. i have gotten about 5 people started in this hobby. but with her its the funnest. she is going to make her a sign in name here probably this week and start posting.

Well that is probably true, I dont have a problem with that as long as I get the fish I want. Maybe I will buy him the 200 gallon that I want for his birthday, haha.
