Hi all- sad news to share. I have had my tank running since the end of May. I came home this evening to find my purple tang dead.
He was not out swimming like he usually is, and did not come out when I fed the tank. When I looked for him, I finally found him wedged behind a rock. His color was still pretty good, but no breathing or movement. No other signs of disease or distress (other than the fact that he was dead). I know some tangs "play dead" but I am confident this is not what he was doing.
I checked my water quality and everything is perfect- ammonia, trites, and trates all at 0. Temp good and stable. Evryone else in the tank looks good. OF course so did the tang. He was eating very well prior to his demise.
