My H. Kelloggi

The second seahorse saga begins. After much preparation yesterday I brought home a very tiny Kelloggi from my LFS. I'm guessing she's only 2-3 months old, she about 2.5 inches from snout to tail. She has this new 29 gallon all to herself, oh and 2 narissus, which happily helped clean up dinner left overs.
I kept her in my 1.5 over night to keep an eye on her and food dish train her. She dived into the dish within five minutes. I acclimated her for an hour today before adding her to the 29. She spent the afternoon hiding in the plants, she only came out for lunch and then went back into the plants. But this evening she came out and played in the water flow for almost an hour. Then after exploring some more she made a pest of herself(which I was happy to see,a curious seahorse is a good sign of health and happiness) by hovering around my hand while I placed a clean food dish on the sand. She was already in the dish when I returned with the mysis!

I'll have some videos up soon

Glad to see your getting back into tanks again!! Very cool little horse. I would love to have one too, but I cant devote the time right now.

Thanks! I'm very happy and thankful to have a seahorse back in my tank, it just hasn't been the same around here with empty tanks recycling. She's a tiny filly, but full of spunk. She was the only one up front and center at the lfs, and made quite a fuss when they went to scoop her out for me. Maybe I should name her Sunshine, cause having a seahorse sure brightens my day

She's lovely!
I like the look of the tank, Rykna. Is the grass live..if so what? More Q's if it is live.

All the plants in the tank are artificial. I took all the live plants out due to the new info regarding plants adding to the carbon dioxide at night. I made a make-shift refugium out of my aquaclear filter and added a light for night time.

i seriously think that it has alot to do with the horses themselves, where they came from, and there health when we bought them. because my tank was perfect when i lost 2 of mine.
and i also think kelloggi are just not worth spending money on, i'm never going to buy one again. hopefully my lfs can get a kuda or erectus or tigertail or something ><

I agree, I have read people are having lots of problems with kellogi right now. They are coming in net or pen raised. One thing I truly beleive is to only buy from a rep breeder. Only buy home grown captive breed horses. Stop buying from lfs.
