My ich situation

Ok I've checked the threads and read up about ich and my fish clearly have the early stage of it(they're still lively). The question now is what to do to my tank to fix this problem. I don't have a QT because I hadn't yet gathered the extra money for that yet. in my tank I only have two Green Reef Chromis which are both showing the signs of ich. Other than them I have live rock and live sand, and no inverts or other creatures. With this info what do you suggest as treatment for these fish.

Since there is no QT to use I would move the live rock and any inverts into a rubbermade tub with heater and powerhead, then use hyposalinity on the DT. You will lose some of the microscopic 'good' critters in the sand but that would be what I would do in your situation. The rock should be out of the QT for at least 4, better 6, weeks during your DT treatment.

I would pull out the rock. Place it into a rubbermaid tub with a heater and a powerhead. Use display water for the tub. Do you have a refractometer? The ich will be dead on the rock long before hypo is finished on the display.

thanks for the tips. I don't have a refractometer yet, but I have ordered one. I should have it in about a week.
