Hi all,
Finally got my JBJ 12 going! I just recently came across a great deal on an empty JBJ nano-cube so I picked it up. I have experience with freshwater but this is my first saltwater tank and I hope it goes well!
I figured I'd post a couple of pictures of my tank so far, right now Im waiting for the live rock and sand to settle into the new tank for a few weeks before adding anything else but i ended up getting a couple of extras with the larger piece of rock I got from the store, two small mushrooms. Im hoping they'll survive the curing / cycling process though. As I stated in another post Im taking my time and researching everything before jumping headfirst into it, but Im at this stage at this point and time and everything is checking out and looking good so far!
Here's some pics, I'll post more when I add more in the coming weeks.

Im not sure what im going to do quite yet. I personally didn't know you could break them up hah hah hah. Any recommendations would be appreciated on the aquascape. I am going to try and load the thing with a lot of soft corals for the most part so if anything would make that easier let me know. As I said Im a Newbie at salt and reef aquariums.

you just get like a hammer to break it, put a towel around it and then strike it and find out what you end up with. it's alright, you gotta start somewhere, right? have you done any modifications to the tank yet? like adding a fan, or anything? http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/inde...pic=117583&hl=

I may think about breaking up some of the bigger white pieces of rock just to give the corals some more places to seat when I get them. But I think I'll do that as needed. As far as upgrades im pretty sure everything is stock in the tank, though I added a handful of Bioballs and some filter floss to the filter sections.
Im thinking about upgrading the lighting in the unit so im looking into new ballasts and stuff like that and seeing if I can retrofit it all my self. Im pretty good with minor electronics, I fix guitar amplifiers and rewire guitars for a living right now. So I hope it wouldn't be a problem.
Anyway, thanks for the advise on the rock breaking I may yet do that!

i hate to say it but you wont want those bio balls in there. they are nitrate traps. instead how about breaking up that rock now and make a few little pieces to fill up the filter cartriges. other than that it looks great!
