My juvenile percula clown

I recently purchased a VERY juvenile percula clown at my LFS. His middle stripes haven't connected yet. I took the plunge after having my FOWLR set up for two years.
My main question is, is it possible to provide a host that is NOT an anemone? He is very small (maybe 1', not quite), and I have a kinda large (2-2.5" long) watchman goby who has started to watch him, like he is food. This makes me uncomfortable. I moved some of my live rock around to see if it would distract him (my goby). But I want to get something for protection for him (my clown).
I am wary about purchasing an anemone because I am not sure how well I would do with it. I am willing to get one if that is my best option, but would also like some advice on the best type. My LFS stocks bubble tips mainly, but they also have some I want to say rose but would have to double check.
Just joined as I am wanting the best advice possible. The girls who work at the fish store have trouble answering questions.
Thanks.

First off Welcome to the site. Second the is the goby attacking the clown? Or just being interested in the new addition? Because clowns and gobies normally get along. As for adding an anemone I would research this first because they require special lighting and large space. And not all clowns will host an anemone just because there is one. You did do a good thing by moving rocks around this changed the landscape which disturbed the gobies territory.

My goby swims up behind my clown and sort of nips his tail fin, but doesnt make contact, just the motion. My goby has staked a claim underneath my huge 15lb piece of live rock, and tends to stay right around it. He has swum up above the rock the inspect the clown.
My clown seems to enjoy staying at the upper part of the tank and swimming in the outflow for my filter. I don't have any powerheads, just a big hang on the back skilter. It creates a good water flow, but would powerheads be necessary for an anemone? I of course will do my own research, but I am interested in knowing what works for people and what doesn't.
I don't have any special kind of lighting on my tank, just a saltwater tank bulb from the fish store. I have read on here that several people have LEDs and metal halide lighting. Would this be the sort of upgrade I could make without a different tank hood? I have a 30g, so I know it is a little small for an anemone. That is why I was wondering what other sort of hosts people have or have heard of.
Thanks.
