i dig the aquascape. is that a chunk of lava rock in the front of the tank? if it is, then IMO, you should take it out. lava rock can leach metals into the water column. what do you have filtering the water? i couldnt see any equipment or overflows.

Thanks I am really proud of how the rocks turned out. Everything kinda just fell into place. I picked one up, put it down, and it looked nice. Very easy

That is a coral skeleton actually. No idea what coral, I'm thinking some kind of closed brain. I can tell by the base, definitely not lava rock.
I don't have any filtration on it yet. I'm still debating throwing a whisper hob filter on there or just letting the rock filter it and keep up on water changes. If I put a whisper on it I would just use lr rubble and carbon anyway and not much more filtration that I already have.
Any suggestions you have are appreciated.

Very nice!
I have one too. I'm running a small Aquaclear w/ Chemi-Pure and Purigen, and a Magnum HOT w/ floss and carbon w/ a Hydor spinning return, in addition to the Koralia.
What lights are those?

Looks like they overhang the tank by about an inch on each side (so about 32".) Is that correct?
Reason I ask is 'cuz I've got my tank in a little alcove in my apt, and I only have 1/2" clearance on the sides.
I have to put a paper towel on a stick to clean the side glass

Aha! - Trick photography.
It doesn't look that big.
I'm running PC's right now. At some point I'd like to upgrade to T5's, and that's a nice looking fixture.

yeah I didn't think the 2 bulbs would be enough but it is very bright on that tank. I am impressed with it. I've seen 30" fixtures but not sure if it was t-5 or not.

Hey do you really NEED filtration on a nano?
I was running an aquapod with no filtration at all and had great growth from everything in there. Even a digi that was laying on the sandbed.

I would think you always need filtration but if you can get away without having it then kudos to you!!!

This depends on your husbandry and how heavy you stock the tank. Also your water supply.
Can it be done? Absolutely. Just ask yourself how much time do you want to spend on the tank.

Here is my thinking... I have had a 60g and recently upgraded to a 120 before this 20L. I have never had a canister or hob filter on either of my tanks and haven't had problems other than low calcium/magnesium. What good would a hob or canister filter do for me with this tank?
