What is this all about. Im 99% sure that I saw it coming out of the mandarins rear. It was all over the tank and it was tying up my coral banded shrimp. The wife sucked it out with a turkey baster. Any ideas of what this was all about?

Betacrash I'm not even going to get into specifics about this but if you don't have at least a 100 gallon tank with atleast 75 pounds of liverock that is atleast a year old ready for that Mandarin take it back to the pet store for a refund. And I beg of you please do your research before you buy, this hobby is not to collect the prettiest species but to recreate a natural habitat. Mandarins eat live food only (there are execptions although RARE) it will soon starve and die.

Just to start. I didn't need any info about eating habits and perfect environments for mandarins. So if an answer can't be given..... What I was asking is if it was normal that he was shooting out slime. I know that they do have a coating that they produce and that it can actually kill them if kept in too small an area. My food supply is great. I have tons of copopods and a good mysid population. I will just chalk it up to a mandarin going apesh!t with his slime coat. I don't wanna send anymore red flags up for the mandarin police, so I'll stop this thread now.
