Ok....I have a hard time with math and I have been searching here for threads bout how many power heads to have in a 55 gal. We have lr, ls,mushrooms and a canister filter. I also need some info on a protein skimmer. We had a prizm deluxe but I sent it back cuz we couldnt get it working right so now Im in the market for a new one. I have ordered 2 maxijets 1200 and they should be here in about a day. So any input would really help and do me a favor....like I said my math stinks so if anyone can put it in laymans terms i would be very very very very very very grateful.....Thanx in advance. p.s. we are getting more rock and eventually more shrooms and soft corals.

The AquaC Remora is a decent choice for a hang on back skimmer. That and your 2 MJ's would be enough unless you wanted to advance to more demanding corals.

You want to "turn your tank over" about 10 times per hour; that doesn't mean turn it up and over
it means you want to flow that much water through everything. For example (laymans terms) if you have a 100 gallon tank, you want your filters, powerheads, etc flowing at least 1000 gallons per hour. I (think) the Maxijets flow 275 gallons per hour each, so there's 550 gph. You have a 55 gallon tank, so with just two maxijets you're fine. (that's if I'm correct on their output) :confused: I would also suggest the aqua c remora just as the previous reply did. Hope that helps

Thanx alot Wax32 and Andretti! U dont know how much that helps.I had a hard time trying to explain it to the boyfriend and he just thought i was outta my head! Now I can show him this and he'll understand it as I do now. (my head was sore from banging it against the wall trying to figure it out!!!!) I know kinda simple but math was not my major. Thanx again!

I have 4 powerheads in my tank 2 for serious current and the other 2 are just pointed were I need them that day.
As said the flow should be fine unless you have corals that need some really hard flow.

Always glad to help with a math problem (you must have been one of my students that always sat in the back and talked and passed notes while I lectured on polynomials and scientific notation right?
