Man I mean to tell ya. What I thought was a green hair alge problem is no more. 4 hours of big joe (thats his name) alge is almost gone. Man he is huge. About 3.5 inches from toe to toe. He was eating instantly when I put him in he went to town on my tank. Best 8 bucks ever spent

awesome! keep an eye on "big joe". my larger emeralds sometimes pick at different corals. it's not enough for me to worry, but just a heads up.

Thanks X I will watch him. I dont have corals yet but will soon. However he seems missing this morning. I figured a 3'' crab would be hard to hide but I was wrong. I do see a cave dug under the back side of one of my rocks. I think that is his new home

You would be suprised how little you will see such a large crab. I hardly ever see mine. They just kind of show up from time to time so I know they are still alive. It's not that you will never see them, just not that often.

I kind of figured that. Once the alge was gone so would he. And the alge is nearly gone I am suprised on how much he can eat. When I got home last night it looked like someone mowed the grass lol. So I put my hand in there my skunk cleaner loves it but the skunk found a cut on my hand started to pick at it and I started to bleed. All of a sudden here comes these pintchers out from the rocks. He just stoud the with his claws spread open looking at me like I want some to.

Definetly be carefull. Emeralds can get agressive with Coral when they get older. I have a friend that had an Emerald for about couple years, when the crab entered puberty it start busting corals like they was a a plaque to be erradicated

OK he has put quite a load on my bio filtration. Amonia .15 (highest its been since my cycle). But My question is my alge is gone besides a few nubs. I know he eats about anything. I feed cyclo pleze pellet and sometimes a homemade mix of frozen fish and shrimp. But he is so slow. Nothing sits on the bottom of the tank and he as not quick enough to catch it in the water like the fish. How can I feed him or should I just go buy some alge sheets to feed him.
