Hey everyone, thursday was my birthday and i finaly got my lights. With some birthday money i got my first anemone. Well my local fish store coulden't get the anemone off of the rock without harming it so he gave me the rock too. Well, I aslo got a preety decent sized hitchhiker. I can't figure out what it is though and thought maybe you guys could help me out. i dont think its a tube worm because it has a foot and its not coming out of a little hole. here i have some pics take a look, and check out my new anemone, too!
My little hitchiker looks like to coral in the last pic but smaller.

that anemone looked great mine didnt do well...but as far as i know the kenya trees are filter feeders and are in my experience are REALLY hardy...i dont do anything to mine and they grow fast....i had a bubble coral grab a hold of one of the trees and killed it...i moved the bubble coral and a few days later i noticed that the kenya tree that was attacked by the the bubble coral started growing back....they spread pretty fast as well

WOW so you've had experiance with them huh. Thats very cool. He's kind of hidden behind this rock. I just stuck him there when I got the anemone so you think he would be ok if I pluked him up and put him somewhere else where he'd get more light???

Don't be alarmed if your kenya tree drops branches or pieces of branches. This is how they multiply. Mine drops them all the time and the current carries them around the tank until they attach to the rock. They are extremly hardy, just maintain normal reef tank specs. As far as the PH, calcium, alkalinity and salinity. It will do very well. Here is a picture of my "mother tree."

Kenya Trees (Capnella sp.) are hardy octocorals that grow and multiply quickly. In my experience, they are fairly adaptable to lighting conditions, but seem to appreciate a pretty brisk and variable flow. I’ve had them literally grow an inch or more per week under these conditions.
They are easy to move and propagate – you can cut them pretty much anywhere and just glue them down somewhere else. Don’t be surprised if you see a broken off piece floating around in the tank, as they often multiply asexually by dropping off branches – especially once they reach 6-7 inches tall.

Well, I’d hate to be the one to tell you to do it and then have something go wrong, but yes, I think you could try moving it without much trouble. When I move them, I cut them as close as I can to the rock with a sharp exacto knife or razor blade. I then take them out of the tank, dry the base off a little, and superglue them to a perch like a seashell, etc. They’ll shrink up a lot when you pull them out which can make it trickier than you’d think to find the base, so keep your eye on it. You can google many other ways to mount them, also.
After the tree is glued onto the shell pretty well, I’ll put it in the tank in an area of very low to no water flow for a good 3-4 days until the tree attaches on it’s own – then move it to the desired part of the tank. Even when cut very low to the rock, the base will usually grow back, too.

Yep, I had a Kenya Tree that was about 8in tall. It was a great looking coral and really heardy, but I sold it because it was propagating ALL over the place.
Here's a pic of it, it was much bigger than it looks in the pic.
Good Luck

Looks good!
I hope you don't mind me saying, but I am a touch concerned about the rock structure in the tank, from what I can see. It seems like it would be a bit unstable, and should that rock fall....it would quite possibly be a very bad thing. Do you have these epoxied together somehow?

No i dont, but all the rock are very, very sturdy. They all like fit together perfectally. I'm certain they wont fall.

There is no way to kill a kenya tree, ittl do fine, one of the little sprouts I had was too close to a powerhead, so I scraped it off, and threw it away(so I wouldnt have a kenya smoothie) it is reappearing! No special care, just let it sit and it will do fine, looks like the anemone has some good color on it, cover up your powerhead intake with some filter pad, so you dont have the anemone get sucked in. :) What color is the anemone
