I just started a little 10 gallon a while back for a shrimp/goby pair. I bought a yellow watchman goby Saturday and a pistol shrimp on Sunday. They paired up after the goby found the shrimp (took about 2 hours). Mr Magoo dug under every rock for about 5 hours! It was so cloudy I had to run a HOT Magnum 250 to clear the water. Anyway, tonight I was able to get a pic of the new couple. The little shrimp has a blue claw.....wish it would have shown up in the pic. They are definitely going to be one of my favorites! The little goby does stand guard and signal the shrimp if any danger (me) gets too close for comfort. Really a joy to watch!

I just bought a pair of antenna gobies and a tiget pistol shrimp. the female and the shrimp are great friends, but the male is off somewhere. I hope he will find the other two. It was so fascinating to watch the shrimp build the little burrow. It is right up against the glass under a stray rock thats covered with mushrooms. I can see right down into their home. they are so fun to watch. The goby makes the cc topple back into the hole and the shrimp spends all his time shoveling it out. so cute! I really like your picture, I'll work on getting one of my two up soon.

TJ.....Believe it or not I did have the tank in southdown and the other half in larger mix grains and coral rubble. The shrimp has dug out under both sides of the tank. Only trouble is, since it's a new tank it got all milky looking for a few days. I bought a HOT magnum 250 and hung it on the back of the 10 gallon. Cleared the water up right away with the micron filter. The shrimp continues to dig daily, so I may just leave the magnum in place for a while. Mr Magoo is like a mini bulldozer! If you added some larger pieces of coral rubble to a corner of your tank a shrimp could use it to shore up his burrow......maybe he wouldn't dig all over that way. Perhaps someone else has had some experience with southdown and shrimp.......
BlennyBabe....can't wait to see yours:)
Here's an udated pic of my 58 gallon:) It was started in May so it's still pretty new yet. Be nice in the future, when it really comes together.

Glad you like it TJ........Before we moved I had a 75 too. My daughter and I aquascaped it the same way. It will make a beautiful tank for you:) I didn't have enough room for anything larger than a 58 now. Since I'm getting older, it's probably a good thing:) Here's a pic of my favorite coral......

I ordered box lot Marshall Island from Jeff's for $3 something a pound. There was about 40 pounds if I remember correctly. I also ordered 30 pounds of Florida aquacultured from the LFS. I ended up giving 20 pounds away to my daughter so she could start a 20 gallon nano. So, in answer to your question, a mix of Marshall Island and aqua-cultured:) I've enclosed a pic that was taken with the flash on.....I think it shows the 2 types better. The large piece in the center (left) is aquacultured as is the small orange piece under the toadstool leather. Hope you can see the difference:)
