my new firefish...

i got my first firefish yesterday and it was out and about since i put him in the tank. i go this morning and look for my new addition and cannot find him. are firefish prone to hiding all the time? i know this is not unusual with a new addition but i simply cannot find him. <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

Yeah mine hides alot too. I've had him for about a month now, and he tends to stay out of the action. Actually he has started to come out more in the last couple days ever since I got a new tomato clown. Maybe he just likes his new company. Before there were just larger fish in there, and maybe that scared him a bit more.

I have two firefish who stay hidden for the most part until feeding time. At this point they come out, eat, and play for a while! Please be careful if you have more aggressive fish in the tank. I don't know what you have, but I had a firefish a while back that was done in by a blue damsel. The damsel first tore of half its dorsal fin, then started in on his tail, and finally got the rest of his dorsal fin. I woke up to see him trying to swim, but of course, he could not. I got the damsel out of the tank and gave him to a friend. The firefish died a few hours later. They are very shy but will come out to play although they spend most of their time under a rock peeking out. I hope you like your firefish as much as I like mine! :)

thanks everyone. yes i do love my firefish and that is why i was asking because i would like to see it more. my fish are for the most part non aggressive. i have a bangai cardinal, 1 blue damsel, 1 tomato clown, and my firefish, along with a feather duster, 3 camel back shripm, and 3 red leg hermits. i do woory about the damsel but he doesnt mess around with any of my other fish. he did bother my tomato a little at first, but i reaquascaped my tank and made better zones and things seem to be doing fine. thanks for the info.
