My New Kenya Tree Coral

Hi all, my dear hubby just got me a Kenya Tree for my 12g that I am starting. I have never had a Kenya and any tips on it would be great, like how long b4 it opens and what does it like or not like.
My darn Turbo will not leave it alone though, he might become dinner if he keeps it up

Thanks all

the astrea is just eating excess algae off it, sorta like a new dinner menu item.
here's my kenya:

bright light is not needed, decent flow is ok but not needed... basically you can almost do no wrong with a kenya...

Urs is so very pretty
How long does it take for them to open? Hubby said it was nice @ the LFS, just hope he does well. Any special things to know about them?

it's just a little stressed, it should open within 48 hrs.
how did you acclimate it? did you float it (hopefully) for a while and drop it in?
they close up every once in a while, but they should open relatively quickly.
they also will drop branches, which is how they reproduce.
also... i honeslty hope your hubby didn't pay too much...

I did float it for about 35 minutes, was that good? And YES!!! my DH paid way to much
$29.00. He is clueless when it comes to anything to do with a SW or FW tank for that matter
. He use to like and watch my fish and other corals I kept in my 55g before I sold it, but that is it when it comes to his knowing anythnig on the subject.
I was kind of worried when he brought it home for I just ordered new lights and they will not be in until Thurs-Fri. All I have right now is a stock light since it was only a FOWLR set up, so I hope the Kenya will be ok until then. I decided to add a few softies and shrooms since I missed my 55g. The 12g has been set up for about 5 years now. He should be ok for now, right?

yea, it will be ok for a couple days :)
and 30's not that bad for that coral. the base is quite fat, so it's not jst a newly dropped branch.
