And this is afetr with the addition of 45lbs of fiji live rock. It came in 1:30 wens EST and it was in the tank by 3:30 EST. Also as you can see I have put rubble in the chamber where the water is pumped back up and where it is collected. I don't know if it will help or not.

My paramaters are:
Salinity: 1.026 (although it's just slightly higher)
Ammonia: 0 (appears to be almost negative lol)
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: 0
Ph: 8.4

Looks good! :cheer: My issue is getting my pH up to 8.0 or higher. I'm not going to worry to much about it though until my tank has cycled, then I'll see if I need to do anything.

That's great!!! Mine is also starting.
If I'm not mistaken it's not necessary to check for Nitrates as the high Nitrites will just give you a false Nitrate reading, so I wouldn't bother until the Nitrites come down. No point in waisting your tests. Someone with more experience can chime in and say for sure, but I'm pretty sure this is correct.

looks like some of your live rock is limestone... If it came from florida it will affect your PO4. Put mine thru the roof

I got the live rock from SWF.com.
Also I came home for from my trip on the weekend and I found that so much water had evaporated so much that I came back to find my return pump suckign air and my salinity at 1.030. I immediatly put in some water and now here are the parameters:
Salinity: 1.025 (although I just added some salt so it should come up)
Ammonia: .5 (how high should this get)
Nitrites: 10+
Nitrates: 20 (oh and thanks for the tip I won't test these until the cycle is over)
PH:8.2-8.3
Also when should I see growth on the base rock?

I was thinking about adding a hydor koralia powerhead to provide more flow for the left side. How many should I get and which GPH is ideal. I already have around 3500-4000 GPH from the right wavemaker but it doesn't seem to reach the left side.

well in case anyone cares:
Salinity: 1.0265
Ammonia: .20 (it's going down already ?!?!?)
nitrites: a little higher than 5.. maybe 6
Nitrates: didn't test
Ph: 8.2
also still looking on reviews for the koralia powerhead. Azfishgal don't you have one?
EDIT: I just took a look at the tank and foudn all these green little spots on my base rock. It looks like algae but I can't be sure. Also when I took a close look at the tank in a certain way my tank was ALMOST cludy from all the copepods. I was told copepods look like tiny, tiny air bubbles, like little white dots. Is this true?

i would only get the power head if you start to get corals,,,,also if you buy fish the curent my be to strong for the fish,
but great if you need one.

What kind of sand is that? Playsand? Looks really dark brown in the pics.
Rock work is getting there. It will take several months probably for the base rock to get any good colors.

YES, I have the two of the Koralia #3 in my tank and love them. Of course I don't have any fish in them yet, so will have to see if it's to strong for them or not. I also received some more loc links so I can split my return lines as they are stronger than my powerheads at the moment, so after I'm done I shouldn't have any dead spots or "sand blowing" spots.

My capepods are very tiny, almost like white fleas. If you look closely you should be able to see them on your glass crawling around, especially if you have a black background. I'm wondering if that is what's making my water "cloudy", not milky water just seems to be a lot of stuff in the water. Could be a combination of the die off from live rock and the capepods. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this subject as I'm still learning myself. As far as my readings my ammonia level has not gone as high as I thought it would, but it did go up and my Nitrites went up, but like you they are already coming back down. I'm trying not to get to excited as this may just be a bump before it really goes up, so I'm waiting until both Ammonia and Nitrites are at 0 before I celebrate.

Fishy Head- Yes I need it over ther ebecause not alot of flow is getting over there.
Hot883- No it is not play sand. It is meant for aquariums. although i just checked and it seems that it ahs alittle bit of silicates in it.
azfishgal- The water is not foggy, it's just there are so many little white things floating around it looks funny.

I understood what you ment, I was just saying MY water was also cloudy but clarifying not "milky" cloudy, but like you said, just white things floating in it. Sorry for the confusion.
