That is a Millaris. Great color variation on him. I have both a Millaris and Meletremus. You can tell the difference easily by looking at the eyes. Here is the two of them side by side. Great eel. Good luck with him. I am looking for a small Jap. or Haw. Dragon right now. Regards, Tim

Banana Moray, $275...he doesnt look anything like your goldtail moray imo

Okay I will clear up the confusion for you all. Gymnothorax Millaris come in many different color variations. The brilliant gold variation sometimes with scattered brown or black spots hail from Brazil. Other variations like mine can be found in many places including Bermuda, Cape Verde Islands, Southern Florida south to Brazil and east across the Atlantic. There color variations with them having my color variation just reversed, black where the gold is and vice versa. Another variation is black with very small gold specs.
As Gymnothorax Meletremus they are found from East Africa to the Hawaiian Islands along with some other islands in the general vacinity. They are almost always gold, orange or pinkish. Most Meletremus in the American fish trade come from Hawaii. Hope this clears it up. Regards, Tim

So is yours a millaris also then? Mines looks just like yours, I guess since yours is alot bigger the black spots aren't as close and the yellow down the body isnt as bright anymore.

Yep, mine is a millaris also. As for the color, each one seems to have a little different color pattern. Mine has more of the banana spots while yours looks more like an true reverse Goldentail with the black and yellow being reversed.
