Okay I will clear up the confusion for you all. Gymnothorax Millaris come in many different color variations. The brilliant gold variation sometimes with scattered brown or black spots hail from Brazil. Other variations like mine can be found in many places including Bermuda, Cape Verde Islands, Southern Florida south to Brazil and east across the Atlantic. There color variations with them having my color variation just reversed, black where the gold is and vice versa. Another variation is black with very small gold specs.
As Gymnothorax Meletremus they are found from East Africa to the Hawaiian Islands along with some other islands in the general vacinity. They are almost always gold, orange or pinkish. Most Meletremus in the American fish trade come from Hawaii. Hope this clears it up. Regards, Tim
