make sure you got something creating bubbles to get some oxygen into the water and adding stress coat wouldn't hurt either

I'm sure I read somewhere that one of the sites won't even guaratee some tangs because of their behavior during acclimation. People assume they are dead and throw them out and want a refund, but in reality they are just "playing dead." Flip through some of the sites that sell fish and see what you find out.

your mistaken, some wrasses do that and i can't think of any other kind that do that too off the top of my head.

It's really bugging me because I'm SURE I read that about one of the tangs. My trouble is I've looked a ten thousand different sites and now I can't find it!
After thinking about, I'm pretty sure it was either the hippo or the powder blue tang. Literally, one of the sites had an NG beside of it, and the reason was just as I said above.
Honest, I wouldn't put it on there if I hadn't heard of it. Now I'm on a mission.
P.S. Don't I know that wrasses do it! Mine gave me a mild heart attack when I was changing out my cc on Monday!

Well, not completely satisfied, but it's better than nothing....
In the acclimation section on this web site it says that tangs may lay on their side in the bad or during acclimation.
Another competitors site says "marine fish such as tangs will often play dead when first put in your tank..."
It still wasn't what I was looking for, but it made me feel a little better. Now if I could just find my keys.........

i see what you're sayin....they might only do this when being acclimated to decrease stress, but once they're acclimated it would never play dead
